You probably have a huge library of different confidence exercises with your dog! Exercises like looking for cookies from funny places, placing paws onto new surfaces, racing towards you after a cookie search...
Yet most of the confidence boosting games are missing one crucial element that is almost always at play when our dogs encounter challenges in real life situations. That's MOVEMENT.
In most real life situations your dog isn't still, your dog is moving. Like when seeing a super scary trash container on the street - chances are that you and your dog are MOVING past it. Going on a hike and having to cross a dodgy bridge - your dog will be MOVING to walk across it. Doing nosework and a hide is placed in a tight space - your dog will have to MOVE to get into that space and back out.
When focusing on confidence exercises where your dog is relatively still, you will be missing movement - an element that is crucial for boosting your dog's confidence for real life situations. Meaning that these exercises will be less efficient in real life situations and won't teach your dog how to solve the challenge on the go.
In this presentation we will be covering how movement exercises help to boost your dog's confidence in real life situations where your dog is moving, what kind of movement exercises are most efficient for confidence training and how you can get started with them today!

About the Presenter:
Mari Valgma is a Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer (CPCFT), passionate about helping careful, cautious and timid dogs feel empowered in daily life and sport by teaching them how to navigate new and funny situations with confidence and enthusiasm.
Over the past 7 years she has worked with more than 1500 dog training enthusiasts and since 2020 she has been focusing on developing the concept of Movement Puzzles - fun pattern exercises that help dogs learn how to use their bodies, coordinate their movements and keep themselves safe in any situation, especially new, weird or challenging ones!
Movement Puzzles first started as a fitness training tool to help working and sport dogs improve their dynamic skills for challenging work situations. However, it quickly became apparent that these fun games are even more powerful as a confidence booster, helping also with training and behavior challenges like focus during training sessions, independent obstacle performance and being able to work away from the handler, and even reactivity!
