Dogs innately want to move away from pressure. In competition, our dogs constantly have to hold position and engagement when there is pressure from behind. Our dogs encounter pressure from the judge, barriers and the environment. A large number of errors in the ring occur because the dog is uncomfortable with the pressure. And rightly so! Dogs want to move away from the pressure, for example when creeping on signals or the command discrimination exercise. This workshop will not only show you how to teach your dog to overcome the pressure, we will teach our dogs to back INTO pressure! We will do this using a fun game that the dogs can control. Done properly, dogs have a strong positive emotional response to the cue we will use. This emotional response will carry into the exercise. This technique can be used with dogs of all ages, puppies through seasoned adults. Prerequisite for Working Teams: Your dog must be able to back up at least one foot and put their hind legs on a platform/mat.
