Course Details
I started this workshop for the drop on recall but realized it can also benefit the command discrimination and signal drop. The two biggest issues with drops are forward motion and failure to drop. In this workshop I will demonstrate several options to teach your dog how to incorporate backwards motion into the drop. We will look at techniques to make the drop fun, fast and self-reinforcing. We will look at incorporating props and, just as important, how to fade them. When dogs fail to drop, they are confused! We will talk about how to communicate clearly and effectively to help the dog be right and to handle errors without losing attitude. I will show you how to ensure your dog drops promptly on your first cue. Whether you are teaching your dog how to drop, or you want to improve your dog’s drop, this course is for you!
