Hold is the foundation behavior for all retrieves. The majority of mouthing errors including chewing, rolling, and not letting go are really caused by a lack of understanding. Quite often people inadvertently add pressure to hold which exacerbates mouthing issues. In this workshop we will look at how to teach a solid "hold". We will look at incorporating offering so that "hold" becomes the dog's idea, which is empowering! Once the dog has a basic understanding of "hold" we will turn it into one of your dog's favorite tricks. You can use this method for all retrieves including gloves, articles and the dumbbell. If your dog doesn't have a solid hold, we can easily retrain it. Whether you are getting ready to teach your dog hold, or your dog has some retrieve issues, this workshop is for you.
