Course Details
The Fenzi TEAM Titles program utilizes platforms, cones and different types of targets throughout their levels to teach basic foundation skills and precision of position. Quite often though, we can get stuck using this equipment in the same old way without thinking too much about its overall versatility and how we can inject more fun into our sessions while at the same time still being productive in teaching the skills to our dogs.
If your training routine seems to have gotten a little HO HUM lately or you're having a tricky time conveying a skill or concept to your dog for that AH-HA moment of understanding then it's time to try using your equipment in different ways. We'll take a look at how you can create games with your equipment to teach the initial concept of position then begin narrowing down or changing the equipment to work towards desired precision. In addition, we'll take a look at how you can and should use different pieces of equipment for the same behaviour but at different points in the learning stage and lastly how to eliminate the equipment.
Not only will training sessions become more interesting for you and your dog but you'll be injecting confidence and reducing frustration along the way. More games, less drilling! While learning how to use these simple props we'll also delve into how "Strategic Reward Placement" can be used to set up and maintain a rhythm within your sessions helping you gain and increase the number and consistency of your reps. within the session. You'll even learn the "What size do I need" answer. Plus the bonus of how the skills your dog is learning with their "sport" equipment can be used to address even everyday manners issues.
