This self-study option is a series of three recorded webinars that work together. There are no written lectures.
Recorded Webinar 1 - Reading Your Dog Series: Breaking Down the Single Hide
In order to really understand how to read our dogs, we need to break down and understand the single hide. By watching a dog work a single hide, we remove all of the "noise" that can distract or confuse us. Through the analysis of the single hide search, we can:
- Learn to better understand our dog's communication
- Learn more about air flow and the behavior of a hide
- Determine where our dog's strengths and weaknesses are
All of this knowledge comes together so that we can be more successful in both training and trialing. We can as a result qualify more often and be more effective in our training.

Recorded Webinar 2 - Reading Your Dog Series: Working with Multiple Hides
In this second part of the Reading Your Dog Series, we will explore the differences our dogs show us when there is more than one hide. The information that they show us will ultimately help us to know how many scent cones there are so that we can confidently call "Finish" in an unknown hide situation.
We will use the dog's behavior to interpret multiple scent cones starting with hides not converging and then we will analyze converging hides.
All of this knowledge comes together so that we can be more successful in both training and trialing. We can as a result qualify more often and be more effective in our training.

Recorded Webinar 3 - Reading Your Dog Series: Blank Areas
In this third part of the Reading Your Dog Series, we will focus on understanding the behavior that our dogs show us when the dog is NOT in odor!
Usually, when we start to learn how to read our dogs, we focus on In Odor aspects of their behavior and we often assume that when there is no odor that it's a LACK of those behaviors that clue us in. We couldn't be farther from the truth! Our dogs will give us very specific behavior when searching in areas with no odor. This webinar will focus on identifying those behaviors.
This is an incredible part of the handler's education and will help the handler to identify blank areas and to clear larger search areas where hides may not be even set out around the area.
All of this knowledge comes together so that we can be more successful in both training and trialing. We can as a result qualify more often and be more effective in our training.
